In partnership with the African American Civil War Museum in Washington, DC, the Center for Family History is proud to participate in the Reading of the Names, a celebration of those who fought in the United States Colored Troops. The Reading of the Names event also marks the grand re-opening of the African American Civil War Museum.
On Veteran’s Day 2025, join us by volunteering to read approximately 50 names of individuals who were part of the USCT’s 34th South Carolina. This event is completely virtual. You must have a computer with adequate internet access and the ability to connect to a speaker and microphone for the event. Tech support will be unavailable during the event, unfortunately. The event will be recorded for archiving among the AACWM’s digital collections in DC.
We currently need more individuals to read names. Each person will receive a list of approximately 50 names. You are not expected to participate any further in the event unless you want to.
