Opportunities From: Volunteer Connect: International African American Museum

Part 2 of the Volunteer Ambassador Training. During this session, we will enjoy lunch, review expectations in more detail, and practice key skills together.

This event aims to expose students to colleges, careers, and curriculum opportunities to help them better prepare for their futures. A great opportunity to share information about our organization.  The museum will have an informational table.

This year, inspired by Revelations! The Art of Leo Twiggs and the 250th celebration of the United States, we are celebrating all things "South Carolina!" Join us for this FREE day for all ages to enjoy so much that the palmetto state has to offer.  The museum will have an informational and craft table.

IAAM History is an on-site community scanning day taking place in Lincolnville at Ebenezer AME Church. Duties will include welcoming guests, directing guests to and from the scanners, and possibly assisting with scanning documents.

Awakening of the Ancestors Through Music, a powerful cultural celebration that honors the legacy and resilience of the African Diaspora. Guided by the theme “A Journey of Spirit, Song, and Soul”, this program calls audiences to reflect on the voices of the past while embracing hope for the future. The evening will feature the Grammy Award winning ensemble Sounds of Blackness, whose dynamic blend of gospel, R&B, soul, and African rhythms embodies both ancestral memory and contemporary creativity.

Program need: Usher guests in and seat them closer to the front.

Through the Young Griots program, learners will discuss themes, historic moments, and various aspects of African American and African culture to showcase the importance of storytelling and story sharing within the global African diaspora.

Program needs: Assist guests with creating abayomi dolls; replenishing supplies; assist with check in of guests.

Days & Hours: Tuesday – Fri; 10am – 4 pm (I don’t expect them to work the full 6 hours. This is just the available timeframe)

Max number of volunteers per day: 4

This will on-going until the files are all downloaded   Each volunteer will be provided with a laptop. They will sit inside the CFH Office. A short overview & training session will be given.   This is open to all volunteers (not just CFH volunteers).
